I would love to see an end to the divisive immoral zero hours contracts nonsense.
We have people moaning about having to get by on only £2500 a month and others expected to get by on #### all. As i see it if you are getting £37500 a year and cant get by on it then you are getting something wrong.
If people are buying a house it doesn't have to be the most expensive one you can get a mortgage for. One fella i worked with couldn't afford to have Horseraddish sauce on a Beef sandwich because he and his missus had gone down that route.
They couldn't have a holiday and he was found in tears a few times because he knew they were a bad month from defaulting. How many people are there like them?
I know it's digressing a bit but he was always suggesting that we all work from home as it would save him petrol money and he could claim household expenses. He wasn't remotely interested in health and safety issues etc just his bank balance. The happiest i ever saw him was when the company gave the green light for overtime to go ahead.
I may be wrong but the "everything now" culture can sometimes backfire and if the current situation continues for more than a few months we will see some real misery.
The government could do the right thing by the million people on zero hours contracts and treat them with the same compassion they have shown other members of the workplace.
