Agreed, I'm not a vegetarian/vegan but I accept that criticism of anyone's slaughter methods is ridiculous, be it this or halal or whatever. Slaughter is slaughter; there's no nice way of doing it.
The issue with the Chinese markets is less about the slaughter methods and more about the hygiene; that's why this has happened. We all eat a meat that has the potential to kill you if undercooked almost every day in chicken, however we know how to prepare it to prevent that. Piling up dead animals for sale with no refrigeration or treatment, like they do in this market, is why viruses fester and spread.
