Jack -
The reason the UK has held off stricter "social distancing" measures appears to be rooted in the government's expert advice that the outbreak may not peak until June -- and - as is proving the case with recent events - that people will not be willing to drastically alter their ways of life and stick to the new rules for over three months, so there is little point imposing more restrictions just yet.
This approach has certainly divided expert opinion , and certainly those on this board
Some clinical experts have accused UK politicians of failing to grasp the severity of the situation, while others have praised the government for refusing to enforce a military clamp down on the public's movements.
Simply put even the experts are divided on the best way forward....and even if lock down does happen it seemingly isnt noticably imporoving matters Italy and Spain . and it will still allow many to go to work and do shopping .
We all have to take personal responsibilty for our actions......and even lock down wont stop some of the selfish arrogant morons who choose not to!
