I think if there’s one good thing to come out of this, it’s people realising there are a load of local shops we can support. (Though I think you’re right on quantities of stuff).
Where I am in north London, there’s nothing in most of the supermarkets. No fresh meat or veg, sauces, pastas and rices etc. but the grocers have got loads of stuff.
Obviously you get exceptions, like those cheeky b*stards charging a tenner for bog rolls, but generally they’re well worth looking into.
The piss-poor communication doesn’t help. One minute we’re told a lockdown in London is likely. Next we’re told it’s not going to be any time soon. There’s messages everywhere saying don’t go into pubs, and then you have that absolute cretin Tim Martin saying he’s keeping his sticky-carpeted shitholes open because if people want to go to Spoons, they can go to Spoons. Then you’ve got the health secretary saying if you go out and you’re social distancing, it’s not a problem. If people don’t know what to do, of course they’re going to panic. Humans are irrational.
