    As PSP & Phil have highlighted it, they won't be shut down to stop the spread among pupils but due to staff shortages with teachers self isolating. Ok for the teachers as they'll get paid for their long break but what about parents who have kids that aren't old enough to be left alone while parents go to work? Plenty of employers out there who won't be paying those parents for extended absences from work. This will be financially catastrophic for many households & small businesses who suffer gaps in the workforce. Obviously peoples health is paramount but there's going to be equal damage done from the knock on effect. The government may say they'll provide funds to offset these issues but you can bet your bottom dollar it'll be insufficient for most people & tied up in red tape, like getting blood out of a stone. I've just been made redundant after 17 years & just trying to get dole payments is bad enough so i can't imagine how this country would cope with millions of more people asking for assistance at the same time.
