Liverpool promised to send their full first team squad and play their box office players to celebrate our 125th Anniversary game.
We could have played City or United and filled the ground, but Liverpool's offer was too good to turn down.
It was expected to be a sellout and there were major merchandise opportunities.
Rafael Benitez told us to go #### ourselves and with about two weeks notice sent their U-18's instead, 2,000 turned up. It was shit. Cost us at least £100,000.00
When I was a kid Liverpool used to be very fair to smaller clubs, yes they would sign their best players/prospects but they always paid decent prices and would wait until the end of the season if required. I admired that greatly.
They are not the same Club, and their fans are unbearable.
