We don’t know when the peak will be. We just don’t. It’s projected to be May in this country. It might not be. Anyone who says definitely that they know when the peak will he is, to be blunt, talking out of their arse.
If it’s still going on in August, then frankly we wouldn’t be able to start 2020/21 anyway. So here’s the thing: this season has to be suspended, for now.
At some point in the future, football will resume. We don’t know when.
There is a common sense approach here. If football resumes in August, there’s no need to screw over the Leeds’ Coventries, Barrows (and Fyldes ) when it would be very easy to arrange a shorter, level playing field season comprised of, say, 23 games instead of 46.
Because we don’t know when things can be resumed; there’s nothing to be gained from expunging the season, and everything to be gained from suspending it and seeing what happens.
The only argument you could make for scrapping this season altogether regardless, and starting afresh, is if you don’t want Liverpool to win the league, which frankly is really quite childish.
