    Yeah, for sure. Easy to forget, but it’s been 11 years since we had a properly competitive side at league level. There’s a step up in quality.

    Sides promoted from the National League are rarely relegated again the season after though. Of the 35 sides promoted into the League in the last 20 years (it used to only be one up, one down), by my reckoning none were relegated again the season after. (And only Barnet have been promoted into the League more than once in that time too).

    For the anoraks, of those 35 sides, one is in the Championship, 10 are in League One, 12 are in League Two, six are in the National League, five are in the National North, and one is lower having gone out of business.
