    Goal machine is right. 357 League goals in 516 games, all in the top tier. 44 international goals in 57 games. 9 Serie A goals in 12 games for AC Milan. 35 FA Cup goals in 46 games. 7 League Cup goals in 11 games. 12 goals in 17 European games. A record 6 hat tricks (four 3s and two 4s) for England. Scored on his debut for every club he played for.

    Only three men have scored more League goals, Bill Dean, Geordie Camsell and Arthur Rowley - Dean and Camsell were pre-WW2 and Arthur Rowley plied his trade in the lower divisions.

    Greaves was the highest scorer in English top-flight football a record six times, three of them consecutive, the latter feat only equalled by Shearer and Henry.

    All this was achieved in just 14 seasons from 1957 to 1971.

    Geoff Hurst agrees that Greaves was the greatest ever England striker.
