Gannon always used to say about Neil Young he was on a 2 year contract building a one year team and that what he was doing was short sighted
I think Gannon built his two year team that got us up as champions and we are now starting to see the next wave of the same model as that team comes to an end, he is now starting to build his next 2 year team
Hogan and Maynard obviously look like they are going to be a big part of that providing a strong experienced spine to the side
Add in the inevitable extra quality we can bring in the summer when more players are available and players start to realise potential of a new project going on here then I imagine we will see similar term contracts handed to proven but slightly younger profile player with the potential to stick around for longer if we are in a position to progress into league 2 and beyond
Salford are ahead of us at the minute so wouldn't be handing out 2 1/2 years to Hogan and Maynard whereas they have proven quality of getting out of this division for us and would no doubt been attracted by security 2 1/2 year deal that gives them
It's really not a big deal especially for Hogan as modern fitness 31 is no age and centre halves half the game is in the head and reading aswell as legs
