The Romans had 38 nundinal 8 day cycles split over 10 months, ( they are called nundinae because the were counted inclusively) so September is the 7th month, October the 8th etc. The remaining days were allocated to winter, and were later split into January and February. The year began in Spring on the Kalends (1st) of March. So basically they didn't have weeks .
