Not long before the legendary Jon Hall (Captain Beefheart) passed away in 2001, he kindly gave us some of his records to go into the archives. Whilst not directly related to the playing history of County, they contained some wonderful handwritten notes from the time he was involved with the Stockport County Supporters Association. There are about a dozen sheets recording those people who went on the SCSA coaches to games in the 1981-82 season. This was the season that County finished in 18th place only 3 points above the re-election zone.
These record a moment in time and I hope these bring back some memories of good times. Nearly 40 years later, I know that there are a number of the names on these lists who still follow County and who frequent this board. Last Saturday, I sat with a good friend of mine who is on most of the lists and incredibly he could remember the christian names of most of the people who traveled.I had a chuckle at the some of the people being recorded by their nick names - I would refer to #31 on the list - a Mr D.Mint!
I was looking through these this week and thought they should be shared. I will post up others over the next few weeks. Am happy for these to be re posted elsewhere if anyone wishes to do so.
This is the list from our visit to Hartlepool Utd in April 1982. County drew 2-2 with goals from Andy Stafford and Tony Coyle. The crowd was 1,506
