They believed Johnson's. Because it was simple and straight to the point, even if it bore no scrutiny whatsoever. But there's something to learn there.
I also remember how Labour got elected in 97. By presenting five (I think it was) very tangible changes they would make, promptly and of immediate relevance and relatability to people's everyday lives- one of them was to half waiting times for hospital appointments. That cut through, in a way Corbyn's wishlist patently didn't.
