Ok Imposter and Stranded, you are right. I can't think of any clubs where the new owner has not at least pretended to want the club to carry on playing football rather than just asset stripping, but it could be a possibility.
I suppose company law could be changed to make football clubs unsellable without their place in their league being secured first.
I suspect an unwelcome side effect of that is that more clubs will be wound up rather than sold on out of administration, as there aren't many people who will want to buy what will have become a second rate asset.
I think I would be happier just toughening up the EFL's existing rules and applying them before the sale of the club.
