Faded Blues looking to hire 'fans'Archived Message

This is embarrassing (or hilarious?) but also a pretty sad reflection of the state not just of Manchester City but the Premier League in general.
They are looking to hire 'influencers' to attend games (or not even attend and just make stuff up) and hype up on social media the 'exciting experience and atmosphere' of the Council House. They are worries that 'hard core fans' are not attending Champions League games against 'lesser' teams. For a start, 'hard core fans' ought to be at these games anyway. But this article also points out how many fake fans, or at least followers, they have anyway:
"The campaign comes as new research shows the majority of Manchester City’s followers on social media channels are fake.
Analysis by Edinburgh-based social media agency Pilotfish Media estimates that 58 per cent of Man City’s 15 million Instagram followers are 33 per cent of its 7.2 million Twitter followers are fake – which in total amounts to about 50 per cent of followers across both platforms."
And it's quite an irony that the role of these fake fans they want to hire is to tell an ‘authentic and genuine story of what it’s like to be at a game'.
