True to a point. But in County's world I think we've fallen short of wishing the worst such as this on other teams.
My experience of Bury. I was there when they were rattling the buckets for the visit of Cambridge a good few years back. The announcer announced that they were grateful for their support from "Stockport, Burnley, Bolton"...at the mention of Bolton they started singing that Wanky Wanky Wanderers song. Hmmm, thought I. Slightly classless.
Then about three years later when they'd recovered (it's a miracle) some guy found I was a Stockport fan on a night out and got stuck into me. I reminded me that I was there when they needed help. And he went on with some tirade of abuse about it. He was pissed. But...alcohol's the greatest truth serum going.
Me and mine live in Heywood. When we dropped out of the league, my son's Bury supporting mates literally took the piss out of it. We reminded them again that we were there in their darkest time and they still took the piss.
Really...#### them. I actually hope they topple. I know that makes me bitter and very bad. But I can't help how I feel.
But they won't. There'll be another miracle. And we'll have to listen to them banging on for Christ knows how long about how they were victims of dubious business people despite being willing accomplices.
I would have far more sympathy for Rochdale. But they seem to go about their business in a far better way.
