Something I'll never understand about World War 2 is how, during the intense period of De Nazification, we didn't De Nazify the military. That is, why we didn't hang every last one of their military leaders, or at the very least every last one of them even remotely involved in war crimes.
I can just about accept the individual soldier obeying his officers. I've never understood how some officers could actually give the order.
Of course, it's not just the German army in WW2. The Brits have a history of massacres and injustices. Totally accept you didn't have to be a WW2 Nazi to be a psychopathic bastard.
