The safeguard in a GE is the voting system we have in this country meaning that there has to be a sort of clear winner.
No matter how much you guys want to dismiss it, 52 v 48 is not really a big enough consensus to throw the entire country into turmoil is it.
All they had to do was write a clause into the first referendum stating that there had to be clear consensus. Even if that clear consensus was defined as 55 v 45.
But the real point is that yeah, you're right, the referendum result hasn't been enacted. Spot on...so what are you going to do to enact it. Because it's pretty clear by now that it's pretty much not possible TO enact it. And to go down the route that patently is possible (no deal) is unwise to say the least.
I don't have a major problem with the principal of exiting the EU. But actually damaging ourselves as a country. That makes absolutely no sense. And..we were told (and we WERE...you can't deny it) that it would NOT be this way.
