Taken this from Stockport Memories facebook page. Chris Quirk is one of the traders on the indoor market.
Thought it was worth sharing, as it was a good post and something anyone based locally can play a role in supporting.
Our covered Market Hall will soon be history if we don't support it by going and doing a bit of shopping there!
It is OPEN 4 days a week and crammed with quality traders, their brill products and their very reasonable prices. Without regular support from you Stopfordians, this market will close. Open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 9-4.30
Please read on, you'll be stunned! Please share as we would like the whole of Stockport to know how good their covered market is. If everyone reading this shares it, and it's shared again and again we'll be telling thousands of people.
There's four cafes all serving good food at excellent prices. The Oak Tree cafe's latte is, without question, the best in Europe, I know, I've travelled Europe drinking luke warm coffee in every capital city!
Fresh produce (fruit, veg, butcher, deli (try the Lancashire cheese with spring onions - de-lish), bread, eggs, cheese, imported teas....).
Unique, handmade original art, crafts and home decor (from fresh flowers to teapots upcycled into lamps, from bedding to millions of buttons, ribbon, wool, haberdashery as well as everything DIY.).
Not forgetting craft beer & natural wines, the best optician and jewellers in Stockport, a million greetings cards, watch repairs, everything you need for mobile phones as well as reliable phone repairs (three of mine so far cos I keep dropping them!), reconditioned mobile phones with a six month guarantee, ethnic products (someone's first Buddha should always be a gift to bring them luck), hobbyist items (Pokemon, model trains, cast vehicles, collectable figures (Marvel etc)), pet supplies, books, celebration cakes, brilliant leather goods, outdoor clothing, designer t shirts, posh candles and diffusers.
Saving the best til last.... traditional sweets and flat caps!
Every time you buy something in the covered market you #SupportLocalTraders and, while you might not see it, the trader does a happy dance.
If we don't use it, we will lose it. The only reason the market has a website and social media is because we traders created and run them, professionally, with regular updates of what's happening all over the market square.
With your help, the market will thrive and we could see more outdoor markets again. Stockport is a market town, has been for 1000 years, please let's keep this going. If we don't, I'll bet the council will convert it into flats and we'll no longer be a market town.
