First and foremost, I trust Jim. He knows more about football at our level and the ability of our players than any of us, and having doubted him before and been proved wrong, I'm not going to do it again.
However, the more rational side of me is genuinely concerned. We've lost three or four of our best players and not replaced any of them with anything like the same calibre.
So we're already weaker. I also worry that some of our players are going to get found out at the level above. I think we lack pace up-front, I worry a bit about Hinchliffe (I know I'm in a minority here, but it's my opinion), and with Keane dropping to centre back I think we might lack strength in the middle.
However, Kirby and Dimaio may have been in our squad last season but they barely featured. If they've developed into players good enough for the first team of a Conference National team, then great, but that remains to be seen.
We do definitely need a left-back and a left-sided centre half before the season starts.
I don't agree that this side would go down as it stands though. I think the fitness, togetherness and team spirit would be enough to keep our head above water, especially given the state of some of the clubs at this level.
