Locomotive 44871 is a preserved LMS Stanier Class 5 steam locomotive that is also known by the name Sovereign. (which is only a Nickname as there are Two ) It was built in 1945 and is notable for being one of the last steam locomotives used by British Railways, hauling the final steam-operated "15 Guinea" special in 1968.
