County visited Cambridge as recently as February but we’ve only played the U’s on six occasions this century. There’s an interesting tale to be told at the Abbey Stadium. Cambridge only joined the Football League in 1970-71. They came close to playing in the inaugural Premier League season in 1992 but suffered a 6-1 aggregate defeat against Leicester City in the Second Division play-off semi-finals.
