The thing about Wacky Races that always confused me was that Dick Dastardly must have been so far in the lead in each race that he could spare the time to deceive, trap and sabotage the following cars, then why didn't he just carry on driving instead and win the race easily? Why waste time nobbling the opposition?

Like Wile E Coyote wanting to catch and eat the Road Runner, but most of his plans involved squashing Road Runner with large boulders or blowing it up with dynamite, meaning there was nothing left to eat.
