Phil, the ad's are for those not logged in, if you are a registered user it is Ad free. We have to pay to keep it advert free so the idea is only people registered get to burn that ad free pot.
I'm not getting in to who did what at the time, 3rd rebel board and all that, no gloating from me I was trying to give a reliable board that would last in to the future.
