Reasoning is Challinor wins stuff and has made Edgeley Park into a regular five figure crowd ground. He has really ignited the town and probably has grown the fan base more than anyone.
Jones is second purely for the 96-97 season. We might not have won any trophies, but ask anyone of a certain age what would be the stand-out season, then that season would be it.
Jim third. Jim saved us in 2005-06, took us to Wembley for a win and won us the National North, but I always think he tarnished his record for his 2nd spell. Granted the owners were knobs, but the way he went about publically slagging off just about all the squad knowing there was no money for replacements wasn’t the way to go about it.
Reluctantly, Danny is fourth. Only one promotion to show for his tenure, despite lots of near misses. I just think he was given a comparatively decent budget compared to past managers and other clubs in the divisions at the time, but could have (and should have) delivered more. I think he really struggled once Big Kev went.
