We struggle against teams with two dominant centre backs with hoof ball to Wootton.
We need to copy this and play Sam Hughes alongside Horsfall to develop a rock solid centre back pairing. I think a back four is probably the safer option with Bate playing in front of them.
So all you need now is a right back and a left back and we might get a clean sheet. Maybe take Pie out for the time being.
To do that, the fannying around inside the 18yd box needs to stop or at least be paused. Both of our keepers have gifted goals to the opposition. Play it out wide by all means but nowhere near the penalty spot or 6yd box 😳
Up top teams are expecting a hoof ball to Wootton so let’s rest him and go with pace and power with Tonto.
For some of you none believers…..
Stockport County’s latest Summer signing is here, as former Leicester City and Burton Albion defender Sam Hughes joins us on a three-year deal.
The aerially dominant centre-half has spent the last four seasons in League One with Burton, winning the club’s Player of the Year award in 2022/23. He was offered new terms this Summer by the Brewers, but after the expiration of his contract now moves to Edgeley Park on a free transfer ahead of the new campaign.
