A pensioner today is more financially secure on average than they were when pensioner prices were introduced.
I don't have a strong opinion for or against but the world has changed and it should be pointed out. What people pay should be based on what they can broadly afford and I think we'll see changes in that regard in years to come. At the moment pensioners and students pay less because there's a clear assumption they have less to pay. It's true, but not to the extent it used to be.
People have worked their arses off for decades, but equally they've been fortunate to do so at a time they could get on the housing ladder. Young people these days can't hope for the same. Even in SK3, house prices have trebled in the last 20 years and in a couple more years it'll be more like quadruple.
