The Board of Stockport County Supporters’ Co-operative are shocked and saddened at the news that Jim Gannon has been dismissed as County’s manager.
Jim has been a magnificent servant of the club, both as a player and a manager, and is regarded as a legend by the vast majority of supporters. Jim has served three spells as manager – the first two also ended in dismissals, now widely seen as grave mistakes by the then directors. Each season in which he has managed our club there has been a year on year improvement in the quality of the team. He has guided the Hatters to two promotions. His last complete season with us saw us crowned as champions, this season he has guided us to 4th place in the league (with games in hand) and with most of the season yet to play. He is, to many of us, a part of the spirit of our club.
Jim Gannon will be a hard act to follow. We wish him all the best for his future. We will always be grateful to him for his fantastic service to the Club.
