Same with killing method; however it's done you're still killing an animal that doesn't want to die. No method is more respectful than another, it's all slaughter.
If you prepare and storage food safely then you'll be fine; that's their major flaw looking at those wet markets. Blood pooling in the streets; insects on the food and whatever else just makes for perfect conditions for diseases to fester.
Fair play for going vegetarian too; I've considered it myself a few times but never committed to it.
