It’s frustrating because that game was there for the taking, but the same applies to Woking. Both sides scrapped and could’ve won it in the last few minutes, but it’d would’ve been harsh on either side to have come out of it with less than a point.
The highlight for us was, obviously, Danny Lloyd’s goal. A good corner executed well, on a day when otherwise our set pieces were poor. The only real head-in-hands moment was their goal, which was awful from our perspective; really amateur-level stuff. Otherwise we were okay and battled hard for what was a decent enough point.
One of the main frustrations for me is how sloppy we still are while in possession. Time and again we allowed them to come on to us by giving the ball away cheaply from our own set plays. I don’t want to be overly critical of a generally decent performance though - it was solid if lacking in real quality.
Woking were a bunch of dirty buggers who know how to bully, snide and shithouse their way to results without much grace. Some of the stuff they got away with today was disgusting. A couple of us pointed out to a copper that if any of us had done that outside a football pitch, we’d find ourselves on a GBH charge. He agreed.
But chump of the day goes to Alan Dale. I think it’s often unbecoming, and quite tiresome, to moan about referees, but that clown is an embarrassment to his ‘profession’. Absolutely appalling.
