the best illustration of is probably the famous Christmas is cancelled / you now have to say Winterval story that appears in some right wing tabloid every year.
Essentially, Birmingham(?) council did put out a leaflet one year for a selection of events around Christmas under the heading 'Winterval' It just so happened that Christmas roughly coincided with Diwali that year, so a whole programme of events, including an ice rink / Christmas markets / Diwali celebrations / Christmas itself were all branded under one big promotion called Winterval to promote the city as a destination, with Christmas a massive part of the branding (just wikipedia'd and the main Winterval brochure had a massive Christmas tree on the cover apparently), but not the only part of it.
