That said I could imagine Jim being a difficult man to work for and heís very much a my way or the highway kind of guy, the sort of which I have clashed with myself in my professional life. At the same time Horsfield comes across as a nob every time Iíve heard him speak.
Iíve often said that Jim was completely the wrong man for the job at Vale at that time. Vale were flying in the league and needed someone to just come in and essentially just continue what was already going on (ironically something Horsfield probably would have been more suited for) whereas Jim wants to rebuild and structure clubs from the ground up. He works best when he can come in to a club that needs that kind of restart to get moving in the right direction, heís not the man you want when things are all hunky dory.
