I agree with all these things. However, surely the main obstacle hindering serious investment is that we do not own the ground. Can you see a Labour controlled SMBC selling to a private consortium ? There have been too many troubled ownership situations close by ( Bury Macc etc) to have positive expectations. It would need an exciting community orientated plan with real upfront investment to make this happen. Otherwise we are back to tarting the place up with new carpets, a lick of paint and better Food & Bev.
