When Jim met the Co-op he said that the players he really wanted were demanding £1k a week, which would break the Club's wage structure. Also County don't have the playing budget to pay that sort of money to everyone - and JG isn't willing to create big imbalances, as it isn't good for cohesion of he team.
Jim felt that he could get best value by using the loan market. On paper, players like Leesley and Hammill have very good track records, but there is an issue with both, as their club's don't want them and also Hammill might not be fully fit yet?
We are taking a risk and hoping that Jim can turn around players, that aren't currently delivering for their current clubs.
Basically I think Jim is working with quite a lot of restraints and no manager gets every signing right anyway.
I can see why he's wanted to perservere with Leesley, because of his record, but personally I think he needs to cut his losses here. Leesley getting himself sent off isn't going to be well received by Jim!
