Today was the result of 3 minutes of madness in a game we should have drawn. Do I think drawing today would have been ďgood enoughĒ? Not really, no.
Why do people feel the need to always attribute blame to things? On another day weíd have had a penalty for handball in the first half and maybe ground out a 1-0 win against a team who are playing well enough to settle in to the division weíre in currently.
When it comes to owners and management thereís this thing called nuance that I think is quite important. Do I think the owners of this football club do enough to fire us back to the football league as quickly as we would like? Not even remotely. Do I think we have a manager who will be able to grind us back given time and support? Yes.
With our current owners I believe we will get back to the football league as long as they donít fire Jim Gannon. It might take a few years, much longer than any of us want, but I believe it will happen. They arenít going to financially ruin the club and they will give him a platform for slow sustainable growth. He is a coach who can achieve slow sustainable growth.
This is why I feel no particularly strong emotions about this season. I was livid as #### during the game (got a lot of funny looks and comments in Sutton Unitedís clubhouse) but at full time I shrugged it off and chalked it up to experience. I think we could and should have done better but we didnít. Itís not worth getting worked up about when my only expectations for this season is that we arenít bankrupt and that we arenít playing in the Conference North come 2020-21.
Lower your expectations, itís fantastic for your blood pressure.
