I wrote this note as I didn't think I was going to see John Rex & Neva at the concert in my country home town as the lady said there were no more tickets left, I was devastated as I told them I would attend so I wrote them the following note. I got to the end & out walked John Rex & I explained what I was doing & he said, "You don't need a ticket, you can sit with my wife (Neva) & I had a wonderful time & with Neva & their Australian Friends Barbara & Byron (pronounced Brian) & John Rex & we have stayed in contact ever since sharing xmas cards etc. John Rex was moved by my letter that he wanted me to share it with his other fans. I live in Ararat, Victoria, Australia & I was attending a local Fish & Chip shop & there were 4 x people sitting out the front, I didn't recognise them it was dark, & I didn't stare, but smiled. Upon leaving they asked me questions & introduced themselves & we talked somemore & they invited me to the following days afternoon performance at our beautiful Town Hall (Sunday Afternoon) I said my goodbye's & expected to see them the next day & was excited as I grew up listening to Country Music & John Rex's Uncle. My letter goes as follows: Hello Mr & Mrs Reeves, Barbara & Byron, It's Nikki, we spoke last night at the fish & chip shop. Well I changed my plans for the day & I don't know who was more nervous, but I knew Ararat wouldn't let me or you down & that you would be inundated with an enthusiastic & large number of community support. I told you that we appreciate, "STARS" taking the time to come here. Anyway I get here & I can't get in, apparently, SOLD OUT!!! But by waiting around I did get to hear you sing & I'm so sorry as it would have been a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Well I hope you had a great experience in our lovely little town approx 9 -12,000 including surrounding areas/towns, probably just like many others that you have played, but on behalf of Ararat Thank-you for stopping here & leaving a bit of yourselves with us & for those of you who got to attend the whole concert I'm sure they had an exciting and totally wonderful once in lifetime experience. I hope you take a little piece of Ararat home with you, please take care & it was a pleasur meeting you all. Well I was spoilt I sat with John Rex's wife Neva & their great friends Barb & Byron & I had an absolute wonderful time, John Rex signed everything in sight for me & we are now known as, The Fish & Chip Shop Gang ha ha.
