55 years ago I was unable to source industry specific products other than shampoo and did find that a bar of household soap sometimes combined with sodium bicarbonate was indeed a useful spotting agent. Though in many instances white vinegar would be more effective.
As for general cleaning I suppose that I would use a substance found in evert home as a food additive which could qualify it as being "domestic" - sodium tripollyphosphate.
