First, I asked him what he thinks may be wrong and if he had any ideas himself. I let him spew for about 15-20 mins and then had to interrupt him mentioning the fact that 90% of what he told me thus far was all negative.
Well, that was a great start. First, I advised him to do one major thing which appears as if he (and countless others btw) has never done before. And, that was: "To look at yourself in the mirror".
He laughed, and I told him, "hey, this wasn't meant to be a joke".
Sometime, speak at your self in the mirror. Tell that person on the other side, what exactly you would convey to your normal customer(s). And, be honest and provide the answer. Would you buy what you said?
This is a great and inexpensive marketing research program for anyone's business.
