Been in this industry for over 40 years and must consider myself somewhat of a success. Back in 1972, I borrowed $5,000 to start my carpet cleaning business which was soon to be a 11 truck operation and a ETM machine on every truck.
Fast forward to today: I can not believe the number of guys either entering into this industry as a new business, or, already in the business but seemingly experiencing ups and downs of frustration.
I read of "the other board" about many of these guys doing "Garage style re-engineering" on their already existing under-powered cheap machines. Can't these guys realize that this is 2017 and it is time to get on board and purchase a well made system that was designed for the Professional and not have all the stinking problems I see that they constantly have?! I am amazed.
If they can't spend $5,000-$8,000 in today's world to start or invest in their business and compete on an equal level with the best of them, then, IMHO it is a road map to certain disaster. No question. I mean, if you can't afford this kind of money (even on a very low monthly payment plan for 5 years!!)and you don't have that much confidence in yourself, then you shouldn't be in the business.
I ask, What is happening to our Industry? Are these guys just laborers, or are they true business people, of which I highly doubt. Heck, more than half of these guys don't even tie their shoes, or make a decision.
Anyways, that has been my experience seeing and listening. I'll make sure I say a pray for them when I go to church this Sunday!!! Better yet, better not because it would take a good year to do so!
