Loom oil is the lubricant used on the weaving or tufting machinery and transfers to the carpet leaving a stain. This is clearly a manufacturing problem that should have been picked up by quality control (if they have one!)
Spinning oil is the lubricant that is applied to the yarn during it's manufacture. This can typically give the finished carpet a dull or darker appearance as it can attract soils. I am "reliably" informed that it is designed to be walked off after installation. Yeah, that's right, and pigs might fly.
Occasionally, you may have a 2 or 3 ply yarn where only one of the plies has been over treated with lubricant. Carpet manufacturers love these as it is so plain to see and the cost of rectification or replacement can easily be passed back to the yarn supplier.
Hope this helps.
Safe and happy cleaning
