ph . I for the most part keep my ph to a maximum of 10. In fact most of the products I use are neutral or slightly alkaline. For instance the prespray I prefer is one made by Hard Ball. They have two scents one is orange the other is pine. They say the pine since it comes from pine cones helps with any urine contimanaion. I don't mean serious problems which require either injections of enzymes or pulling the carpet etc.. But for the doggy or cat smell it really works very well.
I also like lower ph rinsing agents. My favorite is Bridgepoints Fiber Plus which has a ph value of 7.5-8. It is very high quality powder that is great for upholstery or carpet. I have done very dirty carpet with it and it seems to work about as well as like Prochems Dry Slurry ph of 9.8. Sometimes on some trashed carpets I like Prochem Ultrapac Trafficlean. Bane-Clene is another company I like very much. Their Booster has EDTA in it which softens cleaning solution. Other chemicals in that boost cleaning performance without increasing ph. There are times perhaps when high ph is necessary. Like a strong prespray. But not the rinsing agent. Only on a greasy restaurant would I use a high ph rinsing agent because fat and grease which is very acidic would neutralize the rinsing agent in a saponifying process.
One thing we need to keep in mind is that the chemical part of our expenses is not really that much. For truckmount owners it doesn't even approach the cost of gasoline for instance etc.....All this is just my opinion from my own experiences and I always like to hear about other's experiences with different products!
