Wish Jim had recorded this

Posted by Gary Bryson User icon on September 23, 2026, 6:26 pm

"Don't Forget I Still LOve You" written by Bobbi Martin. She had a fine recording of it which can be found on YouTube. Eddy Arnold recorded a version too, but I like Bobbi's version better.

If you would care to listen, let me know what you think and if it would be a good song for Jim.

You are right on the money. This would have been a perfect Jim Reeves song.

I like her version better that Eddy Arnold's as well.

I'm going to have to do more research on this but I'm definitely going to get this song from iTunes.

I did not know of Bobbi Martin until yesterday. I had heard Eddy's version of this song years ago, but I did not know who the composer was. I love the song.

I was unfamiliar with her as well.

The song dies seem somewhat familiar.

It is a great song. iTunes does not have her but there are versions by Connie Smith and The Lennon sisters from the old Lawrence Welk TV show.

LP's are available.

I listened to Connie Smith's version and The Lennon Sidters. They were lovely. Hard to mess up that song if you keep it simple. I think it would be very popular among Jim's fans had he recorded it.

They both were good in my view also.

However, Bobby Martin's version is spectacular.

The Bobby Martin Anthology is available on eBay, the only place to find the song on CD.

I think the song is so good I'm going to bid on one.

Never heard of her before either. Good tip.

It's a good song. I must say I prefer Connie Smith's version.

Good version.

I made a mistake and got the Lennon Sister version on iTunes, before listening to it in it's entirety.

Eddy Arnold's is not that good at all from what I can tell.

If I'm not mistaken, Bobbi Martin is the artist who recorded the pop hit "For The Love Of Him", which I always liked. Not familiar with any of her other songs. As for a song I wish Jim had recorded, I think the Jack Jones hit "Dear Heart" would have been perfect for him...

I'm familiar with the Connie Smith recording, being a Smith fan.

I know of Bobbi Martin because I own an album by her "Harper Valley P.T.A." (1968) & a single "Auf wiedersehen Good Bye / There Are No Rules" (1965).
She had a fine voice.

She never hit the big time.

Jim might've made a nice recording of it.
