A very important date for any Jim Reeves fan. As everyone will know, this date July 2, 1964, was to be Jim's last recording session 61 years ago today.
There were two sessions on this date. First ..the afternoon (13:00-16:30) five songs recorded. The evening session (22:00-01:00). Three songs recorded.
I would have to say "Missing You" for me is the one song that became iconic during the evening session. Just 29 days later Jim and Dean were gone. Certainly gave special meaning to the song title. Yes, we are all "Missing You"....
I may be wrong, and correct me if I am, but it seems that this July 2nd. recording session(s) only happened on this date. Afternoon and then Evening recordings has not shown up in any discography list with Jim that I have checked. A very special date for sure.....Thank you everyone !!

Yes Roy, this is a very important date for sure. Not only was it Jim's last RCA session, but in my opinion, he recorded some of his best songs here, and "Missing You" is just about my favorite one too. However, they are ALL so good. July 2nd is both a sad and happy anniversary. Sad that it was the last session and happy because of the classic recordings Jim gave on this day. There is no question that Jim will always be remembered on this day and every day...

You guys are the BEST. I guess we are the last of a dying breed.
"Missing You" is truly one of a number of "Works of Art" performed by Jim Reeves.
Lately I have been stuck on the beauty of "Where do I go to Throw a Picture Away". Brings memories of my wife's late uncle who was a photographer for the Holyoke MA Police Department, and the deceased local newspaper "The Transcript Telegram". Always carried a camera with him.
Would you guys be so kind as to list the all the songs recorded that day?
