I have always been curious about something, Why did it take 3 days to find Jim and Dean?

It was on private property and in a heavily wooded area. My understanding is the aircraft went straight down in a nose dive. Making it more difficult. There are very exact details in Larry Jordan’s book on Jim. Which I highly recommend.
