I found a rather interesting video this past week on the life and career of Jim Reeves. It is posted on YouTube with the title ..."Jim Reeves Story and Location Tour". I have only watched it once but what I saw seemed to be a wealth of information in the 36:45 time frame. Its about the last flight Jim and Dean made on that fateful day, July 31st 1964. Actually, retracing the trip from Batesville back to Nashville.
During this flight (using an aircraft similar to the one Jim was flying) there is a complete oration of Jim's life and recording career. I have not fact checked the story but at first glance seems accurate.
Larry Jordan's book "Jim Reeves..His Untold Story" is mentioned at the 15:45 and 30:00 minute mark, with information shared to add to the story.
All I can say is check it out if you are not familiar with this video. Certainly a lot of info compressed into a short time frame. Would be great to get some feed back and post it here on the Forum.
Thanks everyone ... and Happy Spring to all !!

Yes,Roy,the video was certainly interesting. However, I wish it had actual footage of the flight path and the area where Jim's plane went down as it looks today. Still wish there there was a marker of some kind to commemorate the spot, like Patsy Cline's crash location has, but this area might be the middle of someone's backyard today or something like that. After all, this happened 59 Yeats ago. Still, a very interesting video, and well worth watching...

The location of Jim's plane crash is in a private woods and the owner of the adjacent house is not happy about anybody trespassing on his property. He also has gouged out part of the woods, built a large new building on the back of the property, and constructed a long driveway that cuts through the woods, forever altering its appearance. I have seen pictures of the changes and although I was in Nashville in December I didn't have time to go to that location. I've always regarded it as macabre to erect a marker where somebody died. It reminds me of the flowers and homemade signs you see along the roadside marking the spot where a family died in a terrible car crash. Don't they deserve to be remembered in a more respectful way than their death scene?

Couldn't agree more about the roadside displays being inappropriate.
30 Years in law enforcement we once had to take down a display that would have led to retaliatory gang activity.
