I have very recently read the book @The Judy Ford Story written by Judy Ford. The book tells the reader that the fatal plane crash that took Jim reeves' life occured in a field in Alabama. I would question Judy's claimed friendship with Jim Reeves after reading this piece of important information! Most, if not all followers of Jim Reeves' will know that Jim and his friend and 'Blue Boy' pianist were killed when the plane Jim Reeves was piloting crashed in a wooded area just off Baxter Lane in Brentwood, Nashville. I know nothing about Judy Ford, but I am quite well read on the life and times of Jim Reeves. I have to say that the lady Judy Ford passed away before her book was released, may she Rest in Peace.

Colin.. I am a bit confused because the Judy Ford book I am familiar with was written by her son Greg. Maybe there is another book that I am not aware of. And the statement that Jim's plane crashed in a field in Alabama is a glaring mistake as you so correctly pointed out. Wow, never heard that one before !!
I did a quick index check of Larry's book "Jim Reeves..His Untold story" and found that Judy Ford and her connection to Jim, appeared on 22 different pages starting on page 123 and ending on page 657. The most interesting of course has to be the one on page 395 that mentions the birth of Gregory in June 1962. Judy Ford maintained for the rest of her life that Jim was the father. Greg in later years had his last name changed to Reeves, having the same conviction.
Seems that indeed Judy Ford was a 'player' in Jim's world, maybe not a major one but one non the less.

If you look at the site I mentioned, you can actually view Greg's tribute book from his friends. On one page a friend says that Greg often spoke about his famous father. No name was mentioned but I am sure we could find out, if that friend is still around.

I recently found (on a book site) what may be a second book on Judy Ford. This is the one I thought I knew about that I mentioned on the post above. I have not purchased the book. The book's title is called "Judy Ford .. World Champion Cowgirl" authored by Gregory Reeves (Judy's son). The book has a rating of 4.7/5. Its listed as a paperback but another site states it's a 'booklet'.
In any event, I support Colin's suspicion about this "friendship" she claims to have had with Jim Reeves. For the author to claim that Jim's plane crashed in a field in Alabama is beyond comprehension. If this is the case, then sadly, I would say the book is not worth the paper it is written on with glaring mistakes like that. So sad and unnecessary ..

It is with great sadness I have tell let you know that my Twin Brother Colin passed away on 3rd April after a short illness. Colin contributed on many occasions to the fan Forum and certainly enjoyed keeping up to date with all the postings. For those of you who have a copy of Larry.s excellent book "Jim Reeves His Untold Story" if you turn to page 658 you will now know the person looking up at Jim's monument in Carthage is my brother Colin. Wishing all Jim's fans good health. kenneth Baird
