Further to Roy Zinck's earlier posting I have tried to find the source of the verse at the beginning of rendition on 'Blackburn Sings Christmas with Gareth Malone' but sadly without success.
I tried a link via Gareth's agent without reply, the BBBC referred me to Swann Films who made the programme and they have now sent a short reply saying they can't help.
Thank you Martin in your effort to find the origins of the verse. We may never know, but at least you tried and just maybe someone on the Forum could help.
It kind of reminds me of a quest I started back on Dec. 14, 2014.(can't believe it's been that many years, and the post is still there.) Since this represented the 50th year that we lost Jim, I made an effort to see if the U.S. Postal service would consider issuing a stamp in Jim's memory. I had several other Forum contributors help me with this as well. To the end I didn't succeed. I did get a reply thanking me for the request and that it would be taken into consideration. Sadly, just went no where from there. But we tried and sometimes that's what's important.
Thank you once again Martin and all the best to you.....
I remember requesting USPS to make a stamp featuring Jim several years ago and getting an answer saying they would take it under consideration. Of course, we know nothing has come of it!
I well remember you making a request to the U.S. Postal service requesting a memorial stamp for Jim Reeves. There is quite the discussion about your and also the attempt I made back in Dec19/24th. 2014. The post is still there if anyone wants to look it up. With the help from you and several other contributors, I did get a letter back as you did, saying it would be considered.
We did not get a further reply or stamp but I only look at this as positive since it made us all connected for a common cause.
Keep writing in Doris, we all appreciate your close connection to Jim and the information you can share with us.....
