There is a book on Amazon that just came out this month called "Anita Kerr". It has Anita's picture on the cover. I am thinking of buying it, but before I do I wanted to see if any of Jim's fans have read it. If you have, please advise me. Thanks.

Gary, I wasn't aware of this book, so thanks for letting us know. I will definitely be getting this. Not even sure if it's in the stores yet, but I hope so. Did you see my post about the Jim Reeves tee shirts that are available?...

You're welcome. Its more money than I want to pay for the book. That's why I was hoping someone who has read it could tell me if its worth it. Thanks for letting us know about the t-shirts.

You're welcome, Gary. Always happy to share anything on Jim if I find something good. As for the Anita Kerr book, that's about the normal price for a book that size. Anyway, I'm sure it would be well worth the price. With all the years Anita has been in the music business and all the great artists she has worked with, I can't see how the book could be disapointing. I guess the only thing that could have been better would be if this had been an autobiography written by Anita in her own words. However, to the best of my knowledge, she has never written such a book. She must be well into her 90's now, so I doubt very much that she would begin writing one now...

Mike, you could be right. I'll probably order the book and take my chances on it being worth it. I would love to have Anita write an autobiography, but she is 94 now and you're right that its probably too late.

Gary & Mike...I just received the book this morning. Our son ordered thru Amazon-prime. He ordered it on Monday and it was on his door step Wednesday morning. It came from an American site and since I live in Eastern Canada that is incredibly fast by any standard.
Anyway, I had a quick look-see, and for the pictures alone its price is worth it in my opinion.. It is a full size paperback which I didn't expect but pleasantly surprised. I did read the first chapter which I found well written with a wealth of information.
On the Acknowledgements page she mentions...and I quote..."Larry Jordan from his meticulous 'Jim Reeves - His Untold Story'...... Very nice to see her support of a great book and can't wait to read that section. Seems to be a lot of Jim Reeves stories from flipping the pages and seeing his name.
All seems worth the price to me. These days what can you get for $30.00..... oh, wait .. six coffees from Starbucks. Happy Reading everyone !!

I am reserving judgment on the book on Anita Kerr until I acquire a copy of it. So many biographies these days are hatchet jobs, filled with glaring errors and other distortions. Hopefully this one will not be in that category.
The author's last name is Pugh, so I asked my friend Ronnie Pugh (who is widely regarded as Nashville's resident country music historian) and he had never heard of the author OR the Anita Kerr book.
I hope someone who gets a copy will tell us if Jim Reeves is mentioned, etc.
BTW, in case anyone is interested -- I vowed after spending 13 years writing my 672-page biography, "Jim Reeves: His Untold Story", that I would never write another biography. It is extremely difficult and time consuming.
Well, I broke that vow and am wrapping up a 600+ page book on MARILYN MONROE.
I don't think there's any other celebrity you could name about whom more lies have been told than Marilyn. A bunch of authors have made a fortune propagating outrageous slander of this poor woman, repeating the same outrageous stories without fact-checking, etc.
My daughter Sara, who helped on the Reeves book, is a professional journalist who won the Outstanding Young Journalist of the Year Award from the Iowa newspaper assn. a few years ago and her work appears nationwide via the Associated Press and Gannett -- the USA Today network of papers.
She has been helping me edit the new Marilyn book. There are many surprises and I dug deep to uncover a lot of stuff that nobody else has reported. If any of you like Marilyn, I think you'll be interested in the new MM book I'm finishing. It should be released by the end of the year.

Larry, I wish you had written a book on Anita Kerr. She has always interested me since I learned her Anita Kerr Singers backed up Jim. I really admire their work from the "Nashville Sound" era. Gil Wright, Dottie Dillard, Lou Nunley and Millie Kirkham are people I admire too. I hope I get to read your new book on Marilyn Monroe. She always struck me as being someone who was very vulnerable and needed a protector.

I have now read about one third of the Anita Kerr book. Larry, to answer your question, yes Jim Reeves gets a fair share of mention so far. Thru the pages his name appears about four or five times. There is also one page that Anita gives us a heart felt look into her memory of working with Jim in the recording studio. I will not give out too much in respect for those that will read the book. Also, an interesting part from the author when he quotes from your book "Jim Reeves : His Untold Story".
There is a one page 'review' of the author Barry Pugh. Although not a lot there, just a bit of general info into what brought him to write this book. It lists him as 'an author and researcher living in the U.K'.
Larry, your upcoming book on Marilyn Munroe sounds like a definite must read. Your dogged determination to get to the truth will finally shine a light on ,as you say, the most misunderstood and lied about human soul on this planet. Can't wait and thanks for the heads up. Could you let the folks here on the Forum know a release date and how to order when it is ready? I will be first in line...Thank You

Roy, thanks for your information about the Anita Kerr book. I heard from a good friend of mine in the UK who acquired it and thought it was a missed opportunity as it was not as in-depth as it should have been. Anita has had a very colorful career and deserves to have had a great book written about her long ago!
As for the upcoming Marilyn Monroe book I am finishing, I will indeed be letting Jim's fans know about it as they may be interested. I have done "deep research" and have had access to people and information that no other author has reported on. So I think it will be a fun and interesting book.
The book is basically finished but I am methodically going through it one last time before it goes to press. -- Larry
