Just saw an advertisement for the AMC show "Better Cal Saul"
Jim sings throughout the whole promotion.
Finally in addition to a beer commercial many years ago Jim is featured.
Ken Burns take note.

Robert, where did you see this ad? I'm a big fan of "Better Call Saul" and would love to see it. What song was Jim singing? Did it look like an actual scene from an upcoming episode?...
Thanks, Robert. Found it on you tube. I hope the song is actually used in one of the episodes. This could be a great way for new generations to discover Jim's music...
I have never watched "Better Call Saul" so I am not familiar with it.
I try my best to always expand Jim Reeves knowledge to family, friends, co-workers and all.
I started a few threads a while back warning about Ken Burns documentary. I was right unfortunately.
I plan to make another posting in the near future with an epilogue to those postings after driving through the campus of Hampshire College recently, and noting how Burns educational back ground led to this lackluster work relying on others for content and not expanding the documentary to include many other influential artists of which Jim is the greatest.
When the student creates the course of study, and grades themselves, it leads to a lazy work ethic of which this Country Music Documentary is a prime example.
I still think efforts should be made to encourage PBS to do a Jim Reeves Documentary. Lord knows there is plenty of information out there that even a lazy Doucmentarian like Burns would appreciate.
Reeves contribution to County Music, the Nashville Sound, and the worldwide expansion of Country Music deserves it.
No need to apologize. Everything you said was interesting and very true. I think efforts have been made in the past by some fans to get a Jim Reeves documentary made with no success at all. However,it would be great to see one made, and Jim would certainly deserve this kind of recognition, without question. It's about time that Jim is given the full credit he deserves for not only being the greatest country singer there ever was, but also for the many contributions he made to country music...
I think at the very least an effort should be made to get PBS to view the postings on this site, and elsewhere.
Now that time has passed and PBS has rebroadcast the Country Music Documentary it becomes ever more apparent that it was a slip shod production driven by a few people who Burn's relied upon to do the work he takes credit for.
Those people were not interested in the many Country Music Stars beyond the ones they repeatedly promoted, nor the Nashville Sound that spread county music around the world.
When I initiated my posts (listed here) one of the driving forces was the PBS program about George Jones being "the greatest country singer". As I said then and repeat now I saw George Jones perform live in Hartford Connecticut and he was mediocre at best. He was definitely NOT the greatest country singer, in my view.
I do not denigrate him as he had some very good songs. But for him to get a PBS production while Jim Reeves is ignored in unfathomable.
I believe efforts should be made to get this view of Jim Reeves and Ken Burns omissions to the movers and shakers at PBS.
I might try, but those with more clout than me should also try.
Was recently on Ebay and there is a CD of Jim Reeves songs performed in German by German artists.
What more evidence is needed that Jim spread country music around the world. Not to mention that his music was a driving force for 'Elton John at the start of his career.
England, Norway, Holland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Ireland come to mind.
I tried with PBS, Burn's, and Arron Vega, locally some years ago with no response. (See original posting)
Robert, I've been a huge fan of Jim's all my life, and your efforts to contact PBS are very much appreciated. I'll never understand how Jim's achievements in the country music field have never been fully recognized. Jim also had the number 1 record of the year in England in 1966 with the song "Distant Drums" at the height of the Beatles popularity when they were dominating the charts with hit after hit. No other country artist has ever achieved anything close to this. This is just another reason why Jim should have the recognition he truly deserves...
