"Twelve Songs Of Christmas" new CD remastered with bonus tracks...

Just saw on Amazon that a newly remastered CD of Jim's Christmas album is available for pre-order. The CD includes 2 bonus tracks, "Snowflake" and "Scarlet Ribbons". Although not exactly Christmas recordings, I think these two songs will blend nicely with the original Christmas recordings, and even better if "Scarlet Ribbons" is the beautiful overdubbed version from the Voicemasters release. Larry, do you happen to know if it is? The CD will include new liner notes as well. I'm hoping it will also include all the original album cover art, including the original back cover of the LP, which featured great liner notes and a really nice picture of Jim that I've never seen reproduced anywhere else. The CD version that has been available for many years was very much like a budget release with an ugly green border on surrounding the original front cover of the LP and nothing on the back except a simple listing of the tracks. It also included no liner notes inside or booklet. This new CD version will be released on November 8th on the Real Gone label...

NO, the "Real Gone" label has NOT included the overdubbed version of "Scarlet Ribbons" on their "new" release. It's just the "same old, same old."
Meanwhile, "Jim Reeves: The NEW Christmas Recordings" (which has 16 tracks, including beautiful overdubbing by big league musicians to enhance the fullness of the accompaniment and better showcase Jim's magnificent voice), is selling briskly.

It's too bad that "Real Gone" isn't including the overdubbed version of "Scarlet Ribbons" on their re-release of Jim's Christmas album. The original version won't blend as well with the other songs since it only has a guitar backing. The overdubbed version would have blended in beautifully. Of course, "Real Gone" could have also included Jim's version of "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" and even the live radio version of "White Christmas" as bonus tracks too, but they didn't. However, the Voicemasters CD "The New Christmas Recordings" does include all these great tracks, as you pointed out, Larry. Still, if "Real Gone" was going to bother re-releasing the original Christmas album with bonus tracks, they should have included the overdubbed version of "Scarlet Ribbons" and the other two tracks...

Since the tracks you mentioned were released by my label, I can tell you without hesitation I would NEVER have licensed them to the owner of that label, given an unpleasant experience I had with him a number of years ago -- and that's putting it mildly.
